Undo in Windows
CTRL+Z: Undo the last command, as known by us. And here are the best uses of the windows undo shortcut. What would we have done without it ? In case if you haven’t already here are some useful tasks that we mostly do with Ctrl+Z.

# Bring Back Items Deleted Accidentally
If you delete a file to the Recycle Bin from the explorer, Ctrl+Z brings it back. It even brings back a group of files you have deleted at once.

# Undo a File Rename
After renaming, if your realize you have renamed the wrong file, an easy fix is to use "Undo" (Ctrl+Z) to restore the filename.

# Undo a Local File Transfer
Recently I Cut + Paste my Songs Folder (13GB) from one Drive to another (wrong). In these cases, use undo immediately to go back to the original, instead of cut+paste-ing again.

See Why Windows 7 is Better Than XP and Vista

Microsoft's new operating system makes computing more intuitive—and less of a chore—while offering better overall performance.

The first thing you'll notice about Windows 7 is that it looks like Vista. It also works like Vista, in the sense that it has the same plumbing underneath, except for a very welcome graphics upgrade to DX11. However, it works much better than Vista, and most of Vista's annoyances have either been removed, or (mostly) can be changed so the system works the way you like. It takes personalisation to extremes.

See why and how Windows 7 is better than Windows Vista or Windows XP. Here is a detailed features list which you can do or can not do in different versions of Windows. Windows 7 has got some improved and some other brand new features included in it.

How to Change the Welcome/Login Screen in Windows XP ?

Seeing the same old blue screen each time you login to Windows XP can get quite boring for you with passing time. Probably the best way to get rid of this blue screen is to use the direct login feature and not see the welcome screen at all but for multi user computers the welcome screen acts as a login portal and you can not disable it whatsoever. However there is a simple trick to change the welcome screen.

Change Windows XP Welcome (Login) Screen
How would you Like this One ?

Just make sure that you have the “Use welcome screen” option activated in Control Panel –> Users Accounts –> Logon and Logoff Options before trying to apply this trick...

Basically there are two ways to change your Login Screen

First One is to either replace your default login screen with your new one and the other method is to play with the registry such that it recognizes the new login screen as the default one ..

The following steps will guide you how to over write your existing login screen with your new one.

Here are the steps :

  1. Make a backup copy of C:\windows\system32\logonui.exe
  2. Rename your new login screen to logonui.exe
  3. Overwrite the existing login screen file with your new login screen and thats it you are done.

Second Method that will help Windows identify your new login screen as the default one. The good thing about this trick it that you don’t have to delete or replace your original login screen file.
Here it goes.

  1. Copy your custom login screen file under another name, let’s say logonuiA.exe, to C:\Windows\system32\
  2. Open Start menu –> Run –> and type Regedit
  3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE –> SOFTWARE –> Microsoft –> Windows NT –> CurrentVersion –> Winlogon and change the value for UIHost to logonuiA.exe.
XP Login Screens : You can Find free Login Screens Here.

Revert back To your Old Login Screen
If you ever feel like restoring your original login screen then all you have to do is use the backup copy of logonui.exe and paste it in C:\windows\system32\ and select over write.

How to Solve the "Low Memory" Problem in XP & Vista

Normally you receive a low memory warning message when you run many programs at the same time than the RAM installed on your computer is designed to support. Your can solve this problem by increasing the system paging file size also called as virtual memory.

How to Solve the "Low Memory" Problem
Using this virtual memory, windows will move information to and from the paging file for fast processing. This will free up enough RAM for other programs to run properly. To increase the system page file follow these tips…

How Increase Virtual memory on your PC in XP & Vista
Go to: Control Panel > System > Advanced > Click on Settings (Under Performance) > Advanced > Change
Here under Drive (Volume label), you have the option to select any of your hard disk drives, but the best choice is to select any drive other than C drive for virtual memory.

Set the double Initial Maximum Size of your Virtual Memory. Here set initial size 700 MB and maximum size up to 1000MB. You can change this size according to the free space available on your hard drive.
Click on SET
Then Click On OK.
